01Overview
Anchor is a personal finance app designed around a simple principle: your money information is yours, and it stays on your device. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
02The short version
- Anchor stores everything you enter or scan locally on your iPhone.
- Anchor has no servers that collect your data, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
- Document scanning and the AI assistant run on your device. Your documents and the text in them are never uploaded.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone.
03What information Anchor handles
You may enter or import financial details such as expenses, income, bills, debts, budgets, goals, account balances, insurance and tax documents, and similar information. All of it is saved only in the app's private storage on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.
04Camera, photos, and document scanning
When you scan a receipt, bill, statement, pay stub, tax form, or insurance document, the image is read using Apple's on-device text recognition and, where available, Apple's on-device intelligence. The image and its contents are processed on your iPhone and are not uploaded to any server. Photos you choose are accessed only for the item you select.
05Face ID and passcode
If you enable the app lock, Anchor uses Face ID or your device passcode to unlock the app. This is handled entirely by iOS; biometric data never leaves your device and is never seen by Anchor.
06Notifications
Any reminders Anchor shows are scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent from a server.
07Connecting a bank (optional "Live Link")
Anchor includes an optional feature to connect financial accounts through Plaid. This feature is off by default and only runs if you set it up. When used, the connection is handled by Plaid; your bank login credentials are entered with Plaid and are never seen or stored by Anchor. Account and transaction data retrieved through this feature is stored locally on your device like everything else. Plaid's handling of data is governed by Plaid's privacy policy.
08Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives only on your device, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. You can also clear your data from within the app's settings.
09Children
Anchor is intended for adults managing their finances and is not directed to children under 13.
10Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
